Philosophy of Practice
Children Are Very Important:
Having been a child of divorced parents back in the 1950's, when television shows like Donna Reed and Father Knows Best idealized family life, I can empathize with children in family law cases. Therefore, I consider the best interests of the children involved in my cases a top priority.
Financial Issues:
Whether or not children are involved, financial issues in a family law case must be emphasized. The financial aspects of a client’s case will have an impact on their future. Moreover, certain assets are non-marital for division purposes. For this reason, my philosophy and practice is to investigate the financial issues early in the case and then inform my clients, of their realistic financial options.
Honesty is the Best Policy:
"Success" in a family law case is a very subjective term. One client’s definition of success can vary from another’s. Given this important distinction, I will make it clear to my clients what can and can’t be done. I will not promote a strategy that has little prospect of success. My clients deserve an honest assessment of the issues. While it is important to note that success can never be guaranteed, my clients can expect honesty from me and zealous representation. This has been and always will be my policy.
Being Accessible To My Clients Is Important:
Going through a family law case can often feel like an emotional roller coaster, and this is natural and understandable. For this reason, I know the importance of being available to my clients to help with the many changes that occur during a case. I do understand that from time to time a client will have legitimate worries about their case, such as co-parenting problems, the payment (or non-payment) of support, the ups and downs of sharing marital monies or property, and the risks of domestic violence. With this in mind, I do my best to return my clients’ phone calls, and provide counsel during periods of difficulty.
